The Malibu Sharks baseball team lost Saturday’s home tournament game against Chatsworth by a score of 7-1.

The Chatsworth Chancellors drew first blood in the competition, scoring four runs in the top of the third, with Malibu answering back with a run in the bottom of the inning, driven in by senior Trevor Simonian (No. 20). However, Malibu was not able to make up the deficit and Chatsworth continued with a late-inning rally, adding three more runs in the seventh to seal their victory.

Saturday was the first game of the season for the team, which took another loss to Burroughs in Burbank on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 7-6.

The team will continue to compete in the Easton Tournament this weekend and upcoming week, Mar. 2, 3 and 7 with further details to be announced.

MHS varsity baseball finished last season with a 6-17 overall record.
