Letter: Homeless Situation

I must say thanks and respect Mr. York for printing my letter. I never thought that would happen as it was quite nasty and pedestrian—anger and frustration are very common among the homeless, and quite certainly we are a difficult bunch, but most people are quite difficult anyway. If there is any chance that you would like to hear some radical solutions to this, I have them as only an extremely aggressive campaign on multiple fronts will end this. The $1.2 million center that just opened for 45 people is criminal to me. Quite simply, it won’t help anybody except the contractors and Eric Garcetti as well as those 45. That’s a good thing but if my math is correct, to house just this city’s homeless would be about 360 billion dollars which, thank goodness, is allocated to the bullet train. Can’t wait for that to open in 35 years. Yes, I’m mad. Yes, I did do this to myself, in a sense, but I had a few hard breaks. It’s just a very intense system. This town used to be quite mellow. It is now the world’s most expensive prison.
