Malibu real estate mogul Larry Ellison checked in at number three again on Forbes’ 2013 list of wealthiest Americans this week, behind Bill Gates and Warren Buffett.
Ellison, the co-founder and CEO of Oracle Corporation, is worth an estimated $41 billion, with much of his wealth coming from Oracle.
Although Ellison lives in Woodside, Calif., he has extensive real estate holdings in Malibu. He owns upscale eateries Nobu and Nikita, Casa Malibu Inn along with several other properties along Carbon Beach and in Serra Retreat.
“Ellison collects houses on Malibu’s Carbon Beach and also owns 98% of Hawaii’s Lanai island,” Forbes wrote.
The Malibu Times reported last year that Ellison’s Carbon Beach properties total about 10 percent of available home sites. He made Forbes‘ list of biggest billionaire home sales in 2012 for a $36.9 million Carbon Beach purchase.
He purchased the Lanai property in June.
Ellison came in at number five on Forbes’ list of world billionaires in March, behind Telemex’s Carlos Slim Helu, of Mexico, and Zara’s Amancio Ortega, of Spain, in addition to Gates and Buffett.
