With regard to the case against Sina Khankhasian, I have one suggestion-compassion.
I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child and I agree that Khankhasian acted recklessly with no regard for the safety of others, but what utter desperation led the man to behave in this manner in an attempt to end his own life. I am haunted by those sad eyes and by the fact that this human being has no army of supporters on his side. He made a terrible mistake with dreadful consequences, but this is a new year and a chance for forgiveness and reconciliation.
In respect for the memory of Emily Shane, the family have a chance to forgive with dignity. How beautiful that would be and what a tribute to the remaining family.
