The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close one northbound lane of Pacific Coast Highway from Winding Way to Ramirez Mesa Drive daily beginning Monday, Dec. 13, through Friday, Dec. 17, 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. to realign lanes and install K-rail. Lane closures are subject to change.

This work is part of a project to repair damaged drainage pipes and prevent slope erosion. As part of this project three to five oak trees may require pruning or removal. Any trees deemed necessary for removal will be replaced with native oak trees.

Peterson-Chase Construction, Inc. of Irvine, Calif. is the contractor on this $220,000 project. The project is expected to complete by Spring 2011.

Malibu Canyon delays

Construction is ongoing on Malibu Canyon Road, causing delays of more then 20 minutes in both directions.

The construction, which had been scheduled to take place in the evenings, is taking place weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., until Jan. 17, according to the Los Angeles County Public Works Department of Road Maintenance.

The resurfacing project will repair unsatisfactory spots of the road.
