The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District showed substantial gains in graduation rate for the class of 2013. The California Department of Education released graduation rate data for the Class of 2013, which shows that SMMUSD’s grew to 93.5% for 2013. The 2012 graduation rate was 91.4%.

In a press release, Superintendent Sandra Lyon said, “These increases reflect the collaborative effort of the entire SMMUSD community — students, teachers, administrators, and parents — as we work to prepare every student for college and careers.”

In addition to the overall increase, certain groups of students saw significant gains over the Class of 2012. For example, African-American students, Latinos, students with disabilities and socio-economically disadvantaged students graduated at much higher rates than the previous year.
