Only eight home rebuilds have been completed so far following the November 2018 Woolsey Fire, but that number fails to convey the ongoing rebuild efforts taking place across western Malibu. As of Tuesday, Sept. 22, 140 permits have been issued for homeowners seeking to rebuild houses lost in the fire and many of those are well on their way to welcoming Malibuites back home soon.Â
Overall, 252 rebuild plans have been approved by the Malibu planning department; in addition, 12 multifamily residences have received permits to begin the rebuild process, nearly 23 months after the fire.
