Silver Fox Walk: Malibu Lagoon

On Thursday, August 10, from 9-11 a.m., join the Malibu Senior Center’s monthly hiking group at Malibu Lagoon State Park. The 2-3 mile hike will be led by an experienced guide and is an easy difficulty level. Wear comfortable clothing and bring snacks, water, and sun protection. Parking for this month’s hike will be free at Legacy Park across the street or $5 at the State Park in front of the Lagoon. Each month the group will experience a new hiking trail located in Malibu.

Art Trek Workshop: Mini Mandalas 

On Friday, August 11. from 2-4 p.m. at Malibu City Hall in the Multi-Purpose Room, the Senior Center will be hosting an Art Trek Workshop called “Mini Mandalas,” open to everyone 13 years or older. This art class will create a complex abstract design, usually in a circle form, that is called a mandala. The class costs $5 and there is a $10 fee for materials that can be paid to the instructor on the day of the class. The class is limited to 15 people, so participants must RSVP.

Memories in the Making

On Monday, August 14, at 11 p.m., the Malibu Senior Center in collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Association of greater Los Angeles, is offering an art program called “Memories in the Making: Crunch and Create.” This art program offers a creative way for those with Alzheimer’s and other dementias to communicate through art. It stimulates the brain and allows people to enhance their connections with others and open their mind to memories and perspectives. Participants will enjoy the art program over lunch. The program is free and open to anyone who wants to participate, but please RSVP.

Ice Cream Social 

On Monday, August 14, from 12:15-12:45 p.m., at Malibu City Hall in the Zuma Room, join the Senior Center for their free monthly ice cream social! Celebrate August birthday’s and socialize with others.

Monthly Luncheon

On Thursday, August 17, from 11:30 am.-1 p.m. at Malibu City Hall, join the Senior Center for their monthly luncheon. This month’s theme is Country Western, so wear your best country clothing and enjoy food from Wood Ranch BBQ. There is a $2 fee for the first 80 people that call and reserve a seat, after that a wait list will be created.
