A legal challenge to the California Coastal Commission’s 2009 order to allow public access from Pacific Coast Highway to Carbon Beach through private property has been rejected. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James C. Chalfant rejected a lawsuit by Carbon Beach resident Lisette Ackerberg which challenged the Commission’s order, which requires Ackerberg and other residents to remove rocks, walls and other obstacles it says are blocking public access to the beach.
