Malibu architect Lester Tobias has a book-signing scheduled for his book “Building in the ‘Bu: Navigating the Malibu Zoning Code” on Sunday, April 13.
In his book, Tobias covers the difficulties of the building code, writing “Everyone knows Malibu is a crazy place to build.” With the codes clearly explained, Tobias also clarifies the regulations and acronyms that often confuse people.
Earning a master’s degree in architecture from the University of California, Lester Tobias has worked with decorated architects Frank Gehry, Charles Moore, Buzz Yudell and Barton Phelps. He opened his own practice in 1986 in Malibu while also being a member of the City of Malibu Environmental Review Board.
Tobias will also be discussing his book at the event, scheduled for 2 p.m. at Bank of Books, 29169 Heathercliff Rd. in the Point Dume Village.
