Firefighters across America are participating in the Fill the Boot fundraiser in collaboration with the the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), including first responders taking to the streets of Malibu as part of the drive.
The longstanding tradition began in 1953 in Boston, and has since expanded to fire departments across the country Just last year, the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) reported over $25 million donated to MDA as a result of the fundraising event.
The people in uniform will be taking over local intersections to collect donations in their work boots for children and adults living with muscular dystrophy, ALS and other related muscle-debilitating diseases.
