Natalie McGiffert, a Malibu High School student, won the USA Gymnastics Rhythmic Gymnastics Region 1 Championship on May 12 and 13 at El Camino College. It was McGiffert’s fifth championship at the competition in six years. She was also named Athlete of the Year at the competition for a fifth time. Next up for McGiffert is the National Qualifier on June 8 and 9 in Orlando, Fla. She will try to become one of 24 girls selected to participate in the VISA National Championship to be held in San Jose on June 26 and 27.
