The Malibu High School Sharks surf team did well in the SSS High School Championship Surf Contest in Oceanside April 23, placing third overall in the women’s shortboard category and fifth in the women’s longboard division.
Freshman Frankie Seely made it to the finals in two categories, while teammate Trevor Robbins made the semi-finals in men’s longboard and Moorea Maguire made it to the quarter finals in the women’s longboard division. Robbins and Maguire serve as the Sharks team captains.
The winning weekend was bittersweet, as it was the last for coaches Elaine and Doug Robbins. The pair will be passing the torch to new coach Mike Moss.
