Malibu High School’s Class of 2014 tosses its caps in the air at the end of Friday’s graduation ceremony.

-One of Malibu’s most popular watering holes is in Malibu Creek State Park, and attracts a younger crowd of outdoor lovers during hot weather. They enjoy their days by jumping off a 40-foot high rock cliff into a small pool below. Unfortunately, they sometimes miss or end up jumping onto each other. Malibu’s Search and Rescue Team keeps very busy carrying out the wounded.

-Malibu High graduated another class of 182 students.

-The Coastal Commission finally got what it’s been craving for years: the right to levy fines without having to go through the pesky court system, which is always asking for evidence and insisting on due process. You still have a right to fight back, but you could be doing so to the tune of $12,000 per day in fines if you lose. So as a practical matter, unless you’re a billionaire, forget it. In typical Sacramento fashion, the new Coastal Commission powers were snuck through on a trailer bill, principally because new Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins is a former Coastal Commissioner.
