This letter is addressed to Malibu Mayor Skylar Peak and members of City Council.
According to the staff report just posted, the City of Malibu is going to pay a salary of $300,000 for the executive director of the LA County Library Foundation.
This matter will be decided on Dec. 11.
This is generous and may be a very worthwhile endeavor, but before you contribute the entire salary, I would ask that you ensure the City of Malibu will have representation on the board. This will ensure that the foundation’s actions will be transparent and reported back to Malibu in a timely manner. In addition, community suggestions and comments will be able to be communicated back to the foundation.
