The City of Malibu has joined the “Dirty Car Pledge,” a campaign by conservation group LA Waterkeeper to break water-wasting habits, raise awareness about water conservation and to save water to address the drought. The cities of Santa Monica and Burbank, as well as nearly 6,000 individuals across Southern California, have taken the pledge, which encourages participants to stop washing their vehicles.
The City of Malibu has pledged to stop washing its 12 fleet vehicles, which are normally washed every other week, and display the LA Waterkeeper’s pledge stickers in the windows to encourage participation by Malibu residents. The city will not wash its cars for 60 days.
