If you’re planning on going to the movies this weekend, “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” is incredible.
What goes into this movie is heart and soul of the cast and crew. I was fortunate enough to interview Andy Serkis, who plays Caesar, and the movie’s director, Matt Reeves (see first video at left).
Serkis’ performance is outstanding and Reeves explores a new way of telling the age-old story of man and ape. Who is the most intelligent of the two?
Ape movement coach/stunt choreographer Terry Notary masters the art of translating ape behavior, taking performance capture to a new level. I even got to try “monkeying around” for a bit with Notary (see second video under “video” tab).
Visual effects supervisors Joe Letteri and Dan Lemmon created magic on location in New Orleans, San Francisco and Vancouver B.C. — truly phenomenal work (see third video under “video” tab).
