I have lived in Malibu for 35 years. I have enjoyed motorcycle riding for over 45 years but I feel the need to write a letter at this time regarding my concerns about the numerous accidents I’ve been observing in Malibu with regard to motorcycles. This weekend, in particular, the paramedics were called out to two downed motorcycles and the traffic on Pacific Coast Highway was blocked off for miles. There appeared to be several injured parties and other vehicles were also involved.
I have often seen people putting their hands out of their windows and opening their doors in standstill traffic and have seen people crossing the lines in the road on foot when traffic was moving slowly. Given these circumstances, is there somebody out there who could explore the idea of making it against the law for motorcyclists to ride between the cars, as I’m concerned about the loss of life and property damage that can result from this type of behavior?
