Missed meetings require Brown Act lesson

Editor’s Note: The following letter was addressed to the City Council as well as an attachment, which is not published here.

In reflecting on the fiasco of the failed meeting last week between the so called “Disaster Medical Team” and Malibu MRC leadership that had to travel long distances to attend the meeting, and in further reviewing correspondence from Mr. Davis to me and to Mr. Donin, especially in the days preceding the ill-fated meeting, we have reasons to believe that the city of Malibu might have violated certain provisions of the Brown Act.

With that in mind and strictly as a public service to the city of Malibu, we are hereby attaching a recent set of recommendations from the L.A. County Counsel regarding Brown Act Requirements for your careful individual review and consideration. We are hoping this information will help you improve the local governance and prevent you from having future “miss-scheduled” and/or “miss-noticed” meetings.

On an entirely separate matter, I renew my written demand for a formal letter of apology from Ms. Barovsky for her, now well-publicized, personal attack on me and attempted character assassination in hopes of reducing my effectiveness as a community leader.

Victor S. Dorodny

Volunteer Director and Chief Medical Officer of Malibu MRC
