Anita Ann Yocum died Jan. 18 in Canoga Park after a five-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Yocum was born on April 24, 1935 in Minneapolis, Minn. Her first marriage was to Jim Scott, father of her four daughters, after attending Immaculate Heart College. The family moved from Agoura to Malibu in 1975. She later married Dan Yocum, whom she met while working at Pepperdine University during the ’70s and early ’80s. They resided in Malibu until moving to Arkansas after retirement in 1990. After Dan died, she returned to the San Fernando Valley where she lived for the past two years.

Yocum accepted life as an adventure and challenge that was to be lived with love and enthusiasm. She is survived by her brother, Larry Mollner; sisters Diane Hertel and Louann Mollner; daughters Kathy Higgins, Teri Scott, Susy Newman and Diane Scott; stepdaughters Sally Bland, Kathy Christensen and Cindy Laury; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services took place at Malibu Presbyterian Church Jan. 24.
