Los Angeles County lifeguard officials reported the sighting of a 10-foot great white shark one mile off the coast of Malibu Colony.

Last year, off the coast of Corral Canyon a standup paddle boarder was followed by a great white, and it had even bumped his board several times before lifeguard Joe Everett helped chase the shark away by hitting it with a paddle.

Lifeguard Greg Pfeiffer said he spotted a sea lion with bite marks around its neck and on its body two days ago at Surfrider Beach.

Swimmers and surfers are cautioned not to enter the ocean during dawn or dusk, and to report sightings to lifeguards.
