Emergency crews rescued an injured swimmer out of the “rock pool” area of Malibu Creek State Park on Sunday after another swimmer landed on him during a jump.
The victim, according to Malibu SAR, was a 21-year-old male who had been swimming in the rock pool area on Sunday when another person jumped from a cliff 40 feet overhead and landed on him, forcing him under water.
After being under water for an unknown amount of time, the swimmer surfaced complaining about extreme weakness. Bystanders requested help and assisted the swimmer until Malibu Search and Rescue, together with LA County Fire personnel, LA County Fire Copter 15 crew and California State Park Rangers, arrived to transport him to UCLA Trauma Center.
A backboard was placed under the victim and he was lifted directly out of the water in a rescue “bag” and transported by Fire Copter 15 to the Trauma Center for evaluation and treatment.
There was no word as to his current condition.
