A world premier stage adaptation of “MONSTER,” a National Book Award finalist and young adult novel by Walter Dean Myers, will debut Feb. 19 at the Pasadena Playhouse.

Adapted for the stage and directed by longtime Malibuite Diane Namm, “MONSTER” tells the story of Steven Harmon, a 16-year-old African American on trial for murder, who has been accused of being the lookout in a robbery gone wrong.

Designed for high school students, the play allows audiences to serve as the jury and vote for the guilt or innocence of the defendant.
