The negative press about Justine Petretti in one particular paper last week was unbelievably callous. This young woman had a dream to get a simple park done for all of the community to enjoy. She has been through a long and tedious journey over 10 years working with the city and residents trying to get it done. She has been gracious and inclusive along the way, appearing time after time at countless judicious hearings regarding this project. I am appalled at the behavior of a few souls who made up their own exclusive rules last minute and when they did not get their way they chose to target her and blame her for their own malcontent. Is this what we are teaching our children and grandchildren? If you don’t get your way, (even though you got most everything you wanted-except the dissolution of the park itself) that it is okay to publicly flog a genuinely good person with the best intentions? My goodness, have we not lost sight of ourselves? This is a PARK & it will not destroy your life. The world will keeping spinning; maybe even a little greener and happier, if you let it.
