The following letter was submitted to the Santa Monica-Malibu School District.
I’m a professional writer and I also find these responses confusing and evasive, as are most of the communications from the district.
This entire situation is just unbelievable, and the lack of concern for the health of the students and people who work at the school is utterly shocking.
It’s very simple. The district should stop wasting our tax dollars on avoiding this issue, and use them to clean up the toxins. The fact that this was not done immediately is unforgivable and the subsequent evasions, denials and cover-ups are absolutely unconscionable.
Everyone responsible for not cleaning up the school as soon as they knew about the PCBs should be ashamed of themselves and should be held liable in every possible way.
