Ahh, Malibu traffic. Just ventured into West LA from Big Rock to find traffic backed up to Carbon Canyon from Coastline Drive near the Getty Villa. A huge accident? A fire? No, just a huge old RV with paint on the sides peeling off broken down in the right lane.
The RV broke down at 7 a.m., but at 10:30 a.m., it was still broken down, causing a huge traffic jam, and inconveniencing thousands of commuters and people like me just trying to get to a dentist appointment.
Why was this not cleared up much earlier? Huge tow trucks capable of pulling old clunky RVs like this cost $700 and up, and either the driver just abandoned his RV or there was no such tow truck available for hours (or days).
Why couldn’t the CHP just get a vehicle to pull or push this old RV to the side of the road? More needs to be done to solve traffic problems in our part of town.
