The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Red Flag Warning for most of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties from Thursday evening through Sunday due to windy and low humidity weather conditions.

The warning will be in effect from 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22, and will include the closure of Trancas Canyon Park, which is closed during all Red Flag Warnings.

“A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures creates an extreme fire danger for Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, including the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area,” read an alert issued by the City of Malibu.

The National Weather Service (NWS) provided more information about the weather expected over the weekend.

“The strongest winds are expected late tonight [Thursday] through Saturday morning … but moderate northeast winds will likely persist through much of the day Sunday,” the NWS reported.
