Extreme Fire Danger

After a weekend of 50-MPH winds in Malibu and surrounding areas, officials have issued a red flag warning through Wednesday as Malibu endures dangerous fire conditions.

The warning is expected to last until Wednesday at 6 p.m. Temperatures could range between 80 and 90 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Humidities are going to be very low, between 8 and 15 percent, making for another component that puts Malibu locals on edge during the peak time of year for fire season. Gusts could reach 45 MPH.

“Rapid fire growth and extreme fire behavior is possible if fire ignition occurs,” the warning states.
