The front page of The Malibu Times showed the downed power lines and trees on Las Virgenes Canyon Road due to the recent series of storms. This was not apparently an important enough event for our emergency radio station WPTD 1620 AM to report. All we hear from WPTD is “WPTD emergency radio, Malibu on the move” repeated endlessly but never any emergencies, road conditions or otherwise. Useless!
Another beauty is our emergency hot line, 456.9982, which I called today, Monday, and received Friday’s so- called “traffic hot line” updates. I wrote about these failed emergency systems a couple of years ago but I guess our city council members don’t read “Letters to the Editor” because they are still failed. We have no way to access current road conditions aside from calling the sheriff’s station.
