Being thoroughly aware of the deluge of rains causing numerous problems on PCH, I appreciate these locations receiving attention. However, there is an area long overdue on PCH at Kanan. In fact, four years of neglect! This location never dries out. Rain or shine, it can be the hottest, driest summer and this constant wetness is rapidly widening into the lane of traffic daily. The only observation for any help has been “Band-Aids” – a metal plate laid down and several warning cones.
This area is just before the signal light intersection at Kanan Road and PCH. A sinking pothole the size of a car or cars could develop if attention is not paid before another year passes to five years. I’ve contacted Caltrans Department for Health and Safety and the road department to no avail. I was told it may be an underground spring, under litigation, a sewer problem under the professional building that is at the edge of the bank overlooking PCH. It has taken four years for someone to take responsibility and the situation is worsening every day. Before motorists are trapped into a huge sinkhole, it needs immediate repair. It will soon be too late.
