Schools revitalized

I am a concerned parent with two children at Point Dume Marine Science Elementary School where I also serve on the PTA board. The passage of Measure S has made a great difference in the first two months of school. Dee Dee Cooper is our school librarian was one of the pink slipped employees who stood to lose her job without the passage of Measure S. Because of the voters, Mrs. Cooper is back in our school library maintaining the library books, cataloguing and shelving new books and ordering all of the textbooks for the classrooms. She brings books to life for all of the children at the school. Mrs. Cooper has a gift for knowing what will excite children to read.

The passage of measure S brought our school nurse back as well, our Nurse Annie. As I walk past the nurses station and see her bandaging a child’s knee I am relieved that Measure S passed. The time our teachers and staff spend each day teaching our children instead of worrying about the state budget cuts has made a great difference in the start and the success of this school year experience for all our kids and for that I’m very grateful to the voters. Measure S has saved our schools! Thank you for voting for our children’s education.
