    —— In Malibu news: ——

    Drizzle this morning possible.

But showers are possible this afternoon.

This rain will mostly be light … but we could see some rain moderate bursts.

It’s a showery system … rain totals will be highly variable but in general will range from a quarter to a half inch.

There’s even a chance of thunderstorms in the forecast … one inch of rain is possible if that happens.

The storms will blow out tonight.

    Sunny tomorrow.

Long range Santa Ana wind forecasts are still predicting that we’ll have just about an average number of hot windstorms days this fall …. that would be 24 Santa Ana days over three months.

Lots of uncertainty on when the first Santa Ana of the season will occur.

None expected for the next 7-10 days.

You can’t throw a dead skunk in Malibu without hitting a city council candidates forum.

All five candidates are scheduled to participate in a forum again tonight … this one at 6 pm to 8:30… tonight …

It’s being held at the Hughes Research Lab … on the top of the hill off Malibu Canyon Road … north of Pepperdine.

The Malibu Democratic Club is having its candidates forum Sunday at 1:30 … at the Malibu Public Library.

That one is open to the general public … including Republicans.

And next Wednesday … the Malibu Times is hosting a candidates forum for the four school board candidates.

Four people running for the three school board seats.

The Malibu Times school board forum will be one week from tonight … Wednesday at 6 … at the Point Dume school.

In news from just down the coast …

A fourth Electric scooter company has hit the streets in Santa Monica.

JUMP … owned by Uber … at the Jump scooters are bright orange.

Lime, Bird and Lyft already have their scooters on Santa Monica streets .… which are now at capacity with 2 thousand  electric scooters and 1 thousand electric bikes.

Jump works just like the three competitors … except they give customers a free, five minute grace period.

The company says this gives customers time to get to their scooters without being charged.

Your cellphone is going to set off an alarm … this morning at 11:15.

It’s called a presidential alert . but Donald Trump supposedly has nothing to do with it.

FEMA has been drawing up plans for this for years.

It’s a test of cellphone alerts on a national basis … similar to a national emergency declared by a president.

Somebody in New York has actually gone to court to challenge this test as unconstitutional.

KBUU … like every radio station in the country … will broadcast an Emergency Alert System test at about 11:18 this morning … if the federal government commands us to.

Broadcast stations are required to carry the alert … the one time that the federal government gets to tell us what to say.
