The Malibu Times’ Multimedia Director Julie Ellerton took to the streets this July 4 to ask Malibu kids: ‘What is the meaning of the Fourth of July?’
“It’s about fun — you get to ride in a parade and you can ride with your friends.”
“It’s a celebration, where you celebrate things. And you do a big parade, too. We’re celebrating America.”
“It’s when the Declaration of Independence was signed. It’s about liberty and parades.”
“The Fourth of July means to me a time when we celebrate American and Independence Day, and how we gained freedom — freedom for all. How we made it so we were an independent country. I have fun going in the parade and going to friends’ parties.”
