Malibu residents driving through Santa Monica might experience delays on Pacific Coast Highway this Thurs., Aug. 8, as Caltrans works to repair potholes and remove weeds on the northbound lanes of the California Incline, according to the City of Santa Monica.
Caltrans will close northbound (downhill) lanes on the California Incline, the bridge that connects PCH to California and Ocean avenues in Santa Monica, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The City of Santa Monica said the southbound (uphill) lanes going into Santa Monica will not be affected by the closure, but drivers should still expect delays.
Caltrans is expected to completely close the incline beginning next spring to bring the bridge up to seismic regulations, according to the City of Santa Monica. Construction is expected to last 12 to 18 months. The City of Santa Monica said revamping the incline will also make it safer for cars, pedestrians and bikers.
