Authorities with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department reported 23 arrests, including one arrest for DUI, at a checkpoint held in Malibu on Friday, July 11.
The checkpoint had 1,709 vehicles checked and 1,758 vehicles passed through, where 13 unlicensed drivers were arrested and sent to court.
One motorist was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and two suspects were arrested for misdemeanor warrants.Â
Statistics from the July 11 checkpoint also include:Â
- 1 DUI – Alcohol suspect arrested
- 13 unlicensed drivers arrested and sent to court
- 6 suspended/revoked drivers arrested and sent to court
- 6 vehicles stored for one day
- 8 vehicles were impounded for 30 days
- 10 vehicles were released per checkpoint release procedures
- 1 motorist was arrested for possession of a concealed deadly weapon
- 4 motorists cited for open container
- 2 suspects arrested and cited to court for misdemeanor warrants
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), checkpoints provide the most useful documented results of any of the DUI enforcement techniques, showing cost savings of $6 to every $1 spent.
