Longtime Malibu business owner Edgar A. Brekke died on Dec. 12 from cancer. He was 75 years old.
Brekke was born, and raised, in Los Angeles on March 23, 1933. He attended Southwestern Law School and worked as an attorney while operating a ski store. After his marriage to Doris Rivas-Brekke, the couple decided to open Sunglass Safari, an optical goods store in Malibu, 20 years ago.
For its first 10 years of business, Sunglass Safari was located in the Malibu Colony Plaza. The Brekkes then moved the store to its Pacific Coast Highway location at Rambla Pacifico, where it has remained ever since.
Brekke is survived by his wife of 23 years, Doris, and his five sons from a previous marriage.
