A “Rally for Peace” is being held every Wednesday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Webb Way. The rally expresses the belief that the Iraq War is still in progress and must be brought to a conclusion quickly so that the lives and limbs of Americans and Iraqis do not continue to be destroyed. This will begin to happen only if we commence a staged withdrawal immediately. We can support our troops by bringing them home.
Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld has stated ominously that we do not have “exit strategy” but we have a “victory strategy.” There are disquieting rumors from Washington that Iran is next on President Bush’s invasion list. We can change the administration’s policy with a grass roots movement such as the Wednesday evening “Rally for Peace.” All peace-loving Malibuites are invited and encouraged to bring “peace” signs.
