Local Donald Claps, also known as Donny Conn of The Playmates, showed his classic automobile at the Metropolitan Owners Club of North America’s classic car convention in Kenosha, Wis. recently.
The club is composed of owners of the Metropolitan automobile, manufactured by British company Nash Motors beginning in 1950.
Claps was the drummer for the late 1950s vocal group The Playmates, originally from Waterbury, Conn. The group’s 1958 novelty song “Beep Beep” was on the Billboard Top 40 chart for 12 weeks.
