Community Turns Out for Free Trees

Crowds of people who lost their homes or suffered landscape damage from the Woolsey Fire flocked to Pacific Coast Highway and Heathercliff—to a spot better known as the Christmas Tree Lot—to claim free trees during a giveaway on Saturday, June 1.

The event, called “FREE TREE LA,” was hosted by Sun Valley-based Your Way Tree Service Inc., a landscape company specializing in tree trimming and planting.

According to KBUU News alerts from the time, the giveaway was so popular it caused a traffic jam on Pacific Coast Highway in the afternoon.

According to organizers, a total of 5,000 trees were shipped to Malibu to be distributed.
