Along a crushed granite path meandering through Tina Bebe's garden, a boundless variety of flowers in contrasting purples and yellows grow profusely.

Members of the Malibu Garden Club are planning the 7th Annual Garden Tour on May 15 at the home of Tina Bebe, owner of one of the four sites on tour.

Bebe designed her own garden and spends a great deal of time cultivating, pruning and mulching more than 100 roses, an allee of strawberry guava trees, a variety of citrus trees, and enough flowers and shrubs to test the inclusiveness of Sunset’s “Western Garden Book.”

Bebe’s terraced garden has been featured in Nancy Power’s masterpiece, “The Gardens of California,” and this year will also be on the exclusive Conservancy Garden Tour.

Visitors will see a sophisticated collection of beautifully orchestrated plants whose color flows smoothly from one border to the next. There are several water features, including a pond with a selection of hardy and tropical water plants.

Local landscape designers Jay Griffith, James Dean, Laurel Stutsman, Laura Knauss, Donna Meade and Peggy Harris will be available for consultation at the various gardens, along with members of the Garden Club who will host the event. A plant sale and English tea will also be offered. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the California Wildlife Center for landscape and habitat plantings and to other community garden projects. Admission is $25. Tour times are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call 457.3005.
