Malibu Global Awareness members gathered last week at the home of longtime Malibu resident Farima Damavandi in preparation for its June 27 fundraising event. The event will be held at the home of Boaz and Metia Brizman, Chinese medicine doctors who are honorary board members of Malibu Global Awareness.

MGA is a nonprofit organization comprised of Malibu residents that raises funds to benefit Doctors Without Borders, an international medical humanitarian organization working in more than 60 countries to assist people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect or catastrophe.

In July, Malibu Global Awareness will hold three Midsummer Night’s Dream events: on July 20 at Taverna Tony from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.; on July 23 at The Sunset restaurant from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and on an undetermined date and time at Terra restaurant.

In August, Malibu Global Awareness will hold a fundraising event at Fred Segal in Santa Monica, and another event at the home of Malibu resident Dana Henry.

“Malibu Global Awareness’s goal is to earn enough money to pay for an inflatable hospital unit to be used in disaster work,” MGA founder Ann Thiel said in a written statement.

The organization will soon release dates of its upcoming fundraisers slated to take place in the latter part of this year.
