Brett Goodfriend, Viewpoint high school student and Malibu resident, won a Silver Key in the 2009 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for his photograph, “Ethnic Cleansing.”
The photograph was also selected by Viewpoint’s faculty and staff as the 2007-2008 Upper School Photograph of the Year.
Students in seventh through twelfth grades from Los Angeles County and the surrounding areas submitted nearly 1,200 works for blind review by a panel of arts professionals for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.
Past winners include artist Andy Warhol, photographer Richard Avedon and writer Joyce Maynard.
