I received this email from Martha Templeton who is in charge of the Artifac Tree, describing the wonderful rescue work she does for Malibu’s canines:
“We help the homeless dogs that come to us in all conditions. We pay for their vaccines, spay and neutering, wounds and sores, and especially find them a good home. We work with a local veterinarian, Dr. Lisa in Malibu, that we take all of the dogs to care for them. We do this for the dogs in our community, so that they are safe from disease and are able to have a new home. Since 2004, we have spent $7,106, this is including a generous 20 percent discount from the vet clinic.”
Many, like myself, have been unaware of the great benefits to our community, which have come from Templeton’s generosity over the years. Nor was I aware of the generosity of the philanthropic Adamson family that has made this possible. The Adamsons are our forebears in Malibu and they are still alive in our culture and in our hearts.
May the Artifac Tree continue its extraordinary history for many years to come. Let us all do whatever we can to make that possible.
