California Wildlife Center Spring Open House

The California Wildlife Center on Piuma Road in Calabasas is hosting a spring open house for the public on Sat., April 27, from noon to 4 p.m.

The Center, which exists to rescue and rehabilitate native wildlife, will be drawing back the curtain on its facilities to offer behind-the-scenes tours of the hospital, baby care unit and possibly the surgery center.

The open house will also feature wildlife education, children’s activities and a chance to meet the staff and some of the animals they are caring for.

The Marine Mammal team, animal care technicians and the director of Animal Care, Dr. Duane Tom, will be on hand to answer questions and discuss how the Center helps local animals. They will also give tips on things visitors can do to help protect wildlife in the area.

The Wings of Discovery section of the Center, which houses an American Kestral, Great Horned Owl and Eastern Screech Owls, will be open to visitors as well.
