The Professional Lifeguarding Foundation honored longtime Malibu resident Richard Mark on Oct. 24 for his lifetime of service as an L.A. County Ocean Lifeguard.
Some of Mark’s career highlights include being chosen by the L.A. County Fire Department as their L.A. County Volunteer of the Year, serving alongside long-time resident L.A. County Chief Lifeguard Randy DeGregorii and writing a 4,000-page history of the L.A. County Lifeguards.
Several current and retired L.A. County guards were present to honor the lifeguarding legend, including former honor recipient Mike O’Donnell.
