Part-time Malibu resident John Notter, Westlake Village pioneer and proprietor of the Westlake Village Inn, hosted a reception for Dr. Muhammad Yunus, 2006 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and 2009 Presidential Medal of Freedom Winner, following his appearance at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza last month.
Dr. Yunus had arrived to the region to help launch CSU Channel Island’s California Institute for Social Business, which will be part of the campus’s expanding curriculum, and will serve as a mentor and advisor to the program.
As founder of Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, Dr. Yunus has been instrumental in creating a business model which advances economic and social development through a system of micro loans made to the extremely impoverished.
