Authorities made nine arrests at a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint in Malibu on Friday night, including one for suspicion of DUI.Â
The checkpoint was held on Pacific Coast Highway at John Tyler Drive from 7 p.m. until 3 a.m.Â
“Checkpoints are placed in locations that have the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence and provide the greatest safety for officers and the public,” according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.Â

– 1,463 vehicles through the checkpoint
– 1,240 drivers checked at the checkpoint
– 1 DUI – alcohol suspect arrested
– 2 suspended / revoked drivers arrested and sent to court
– 6 unlicensed drivers arrested and sent to court
– 2 vehicles stored for 1 day
– 2 vehicles impounded for 30 days
– 5 vehicles released per checkpoint release procedures
