I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) and attend temple worship services in the LDS temples at least once a month. In light of questions I have personally received, it is important to emphasize distinctions from the horrors reported from the FLDS compound in Texas. To go into the LDS temples, you must go through an intensive interview process with a clergyman to declare that you do not and will not engage in any extramarital affairs. I have never seen anyone under the age of 18 in any of these temples.
While in the temples, a peak of the whole experience occurs as we solemnly affirm our covenant with God that we will never have any sexual relations with anyone except our one spouse. If any member of the LDS church is found to be having any sexual relations outside of a strict monogamous marriage, he or she is subject to excommunication proceedings, the highest form of discipline in the church. The LDS church has produced the most healthy, strong marriages I have ever seen, which are the opposite of the perversions recently reported to be found in the FLDS Texas compound.
