Seven years after closing due to budget cuts, the Sycamore Nature Center has recently reopened at a new location on Pacific Coast Highway near Point Mugu State Park. The center aims to educate kids and adults on local flora and fauna. Volunteers Julie and Harold Tapie led an effort to refurbish a 100-year-old Spanish Revival home at 9000 Pacific Coast Highway to house the center. Reopened in May, the center has on display specimens of stuffed owls, badgers, bobcats, and falcons, as well as fossils and turtle shells.
