A driver was arrested just north of Malibu near Point Mugu on Monday evening after leading the California Highway Patrol on a pursuit through Malibu, Pacific Palisades and Camarillo for more than an hour.
The CHP successfully laid out spike strips for the SUV to roll over near the Point Mugu Naval Airbase around 6:45 p.m.
The pursuit began in Camarillo around 5:45 p.m. when a CHP officer attempted to pull the driver of a white SUV over on suspicion of speeding. The driver failed to yield, drove to Pacific Palisades, then took a U-turn and drove north through Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.Â
During the chase, the white RAV4 SUV zig-zagged in and out of rush-hour traffic in central Malibu as it headed northbound past Las Flores Canyon Road, Cross Creek Road and Pepperdine University.
